What's On - Friday 8 January - Thursday 14 January 2016

Pantry cafe Old Government House Brisbane

It's a new year and doubtless we all have New Year's Resolutions foremost in our minds - tidy up those family history files, visit more heritage sites and museums, join a family history society or local history group, blog more and so on.

As it is the beginning of the year, it is still a bit quiet with many organisations not getting back up to speed until February.  Perhaps you could go on many of the heritage trails drawn up by our local city councils and local history groups. Brisbane City Council heritage trails can be accessed here.  The West End History Making Group has created some walks here.  Moreton Bay Regional Council trails can be accessed here.  Logan City Council Virtual Heritage Trails can be accessed here.  Ipswich City Council Heritage Trails can be accessed here.

QFHS Library re-opens for 2016 next Monday evening from 7-9pm.  To check opening hours click here.

If you haven't done so already, why don't you go and check out GSQ in their new premises at Wishart?  For more information on their location and opening hours click here.

Looking after grandkids aged 10-14?  Perhaps you could get them interested in history by taking them to the Horrible Histories event at West End Library on Friday as per here.

Take the time now to enter Queensland State Archives Saturday openings in your diary....the 2nd Saturday of every month from 9am - 4:30pm.  Yes, the first one is this Saturday.

I wish you all the best and much joy in your family history endeavours for 2016.
